An All Nippon Airways rider plane carrying 117 rider on board experienced a picayune bit of a scare earlier this calendar month . Why ? Because a numb - brained pilot accidentally almost made a Boeing 737 - 700 fly belly up , as in upside freaking down .
A 737 is not a freaking stunt plane . It should n’t be gun barrel peal , belly upping in the sky — especially with rider on board . astonishingly everyone is safe , only two flight attendants were hurt and only a few passengers complained about feel uncanny ( it was obviously tummy turn ) .
Here ’s what happened : the co - pilot mistook the rudder trim knob for the cockpit door lock switch so when he “ start the door ” for his captain , he actually caused the jet to roll out and leave out 1,900 meters in 30 seconds . harmonize to home investigations , “ the narrow - body aircraft continue to roll until it reached 131.7 degrees to the left field , leaving it almost belly - up . Its nose pointed down as much as 35 level at one point . ”

It ’s a speechless move on the co - pilot ’s part and one that could ’ve possibly ended in disaster . Everyone on plank is lucky to be animated . [ TMCnet , Image Credit : Shutterstock / Ilja Mašík ]
Update : Thanks to Gizmodo referee , Randy , we have more info on how this happened . As you could see in that scene , the rudder knob and the cockpit door lock switch are no more than 10 cm apart . Unlocking the door ( the small knob ) and move the rudder leave behind ( the self-aggrandising knob ) is the same direction .
you could keep up with Casey Chan , the author of this Charles William Post , onTwitterorFacebook .
