
Demi Lovatois rocking some very special new bling.
The singer-songwriter, 31, said yes to musician boyfriendJordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes' romantic proposal on Saturday during a surprise engagement in Los Angeles, a rep for Lovato confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE.
Lutes, 31, surprised Lovato, who uses she/they pronouns, with a bespoke pear-shape diamond engagement ring created in collaboration with N.Y.C.-based fine jewelry boutiqueMaterial Good. He worked closely on the design withTeresa Panico, Material Good’s Director of Marketing and Fine Jewelry, at the retailer’s SoHo, N.Y.C. location.
The couplefirst met in January 2022when theyco-wrote Lovato’s song “Substance” together, and went public with their relationship in August of that year.
After their “personal and intimate proposal,” they celebrated with their families at one of their favorite L.A. restaurants.

During a recent appearance onThe Jennifer Hudson Show, Lovato gushed over her relationship with Lutes and even opened up abouthow she “assisted” in his latest tattoo.
“So my boyfriend was on tour with me, visiting and we had a tattoo artist there and he wanted to get a tattoo of a song title of mine called ‘Forever for Me,’ which is a song I wrote about him,” Lovato shared. “And while he was getting tattooed, he was like, ‘I want you to do it.’ "
After the initial shock, Lovato agreed to help with the ink.
“I assisted, I wouldn’t say that I gave the full tattoo, otherwise that would have looked really bad,” they said with a laugh. “But I did a good portion of it and it turned out OK.”

Back in September, the “Confident” singer opened up about the nerves and excitement she experienced when meeting Lutes for the first time on theLadyGangpodcast.
“I texted my friends and was like, ‘Oh my God, the hottest guy just walked In. I am so nervous. I don’t know what to do with myself,” they shared about meeting Lutes for the first time in session.
She added that the Canadian recording artist was so professional that it took “a couple months” for them to embrace a romantic relationship.
“He was just so focused on the music,” Lovato said. “So we were friends for a while and then told each other how we felt.”
On Lovato’s 31st birthday in August,Lutes posted a carousel tribute of selfiesand silly videos in honor of his love.
“happy birthday to my best friend. you’re obvs the most beautiful and talented person to ever do it,” he captioned the post. “but more importantly you’re weird af and u make me cry laughing.”
