The Asus Eee Pad Transformer with its detachable keyboard dock has been one of the best - selling Android tablets yet . The Eee Pad Slider ’s keyboard is permanently seize , so you could typewrite wherever you go . well , good ? ! Maaaaaaybe .
What Is It?
A 10 - inch pill running Android 3.2 ( Honeycomb ) with a full keyboard attached via a very apt cantilevered flexible joint .
Who’s it For?
People who ca n’t settle if they want a tab or a laptop . The Business Bunch . Like the Brady Bunch , except in suits .
Design
There are many razor thin tablet out there ( like the just announcedEee Pad Transformer Prime ) and this is not one of them . Why all the fatty tissue ? To make way for the hinge . Which is kind of severely project ( more on that by and by ) but also kind of elegant in its ability to simultaneously slide and upraise the keyboard .

Using It
This mother is bighearted and heavy for a tablet — more of a briefcase or backback than jacket - scoop deal , but it fit like a dream on an airplane tray .
The Best Part
The keyboard . It ’s the literal discriminator , and if you pound out a destiny of electronic mail , it ’s right smart faster than using a touchscreen .
Tragic Flaw
Also the keyboard . The key are tinny , wiggly , and have very little child’s play .
This Is Weird…
The keyboard hinge feels pretty unassailable , but when you unfold it up , the edge of the screen scar along the keyboard and do a worrying sound . sound case scenario : the paint is give way to come off the keys . Worst case : something ’s go to break .
Test Notes
• stimulate nowhere near the advertised eight 60 minutes of employment ( more like six ) ; standby fourth dimension also pretty frail .
• Fast for a Honeycomb tablet .
• Due for an Ice Cream Sandwich raise soon .

• Seemed to miss touch upshot from time to metre .
Should You Buy It?
No — emphatically not at this terms . It ’s commodious to have the pad and keyboard in one piece , but theEee Pad Transformerjust has a much better keyboard than the Slider , and some twice the electric battery liveliness ( when the keyboard is connect ) . Plus , theEee Pad Transformer Primeis about to come out , which has a freakin ’ quad - center processor , an aluminum soundbox , and is insanely thin .
