Blu & Exile ’s Below the Heavens makes me miss 2007 . No special rationality — it was n’t that large a year , really — but it was a top-notch - well-informed , emotionally true album that just wedge itself exactly in that twelvemonth for me . Weirdly , Give Me My prime While I Can Still reek Them , which was recorded in 2009 , and put out this last December , puts me in that same position . It ’s a just situation .

Blu ’s made other medicine in the preceding few year , but it was n’t really as put together as that first record album . But Give Me My peak has that same relaxed , whip - wise flow of knowingness about the same stuff — being broke , love , personal identity — that made Blu so relatable . “ She state It ’s fine ” is my pet off the album , probably because of the simple piano - interlace beat that sound so much like one of my favourite albums ever , except raw , and not on playcount 500 .
