Buckingham Palace has released a new photo ofKing Charlesamid hiscancer diagnosis.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the statement read.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the statement added.

PEOPLE understands that the King has personally told his sons,Prince WilliamandPrince Harry, and siblings,Princess Anne,Prince AndrewandPrince Edward, about the diagnosis.

Harry, 39 — who resides in California with wifeMeghan Markleand their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet —will travel to Londonin the coming days to visit his father, PEOPLE understands.

PresidentJoe Bidenspoke to reporterson Monday about the news of King Charles' diagnosis. “I’m concerned about him,” Biden, 81, said. “Just heard his diagnosis.”

He noted that he had not yet spoken to the King about his illness, adding, “But I’ll be talking to him, God willing.”

King Charles underwent hisprostate procedurelast month. He was released from the hospital on Jan. 29 following a three-day stay. On Sunday, he made his first public outing since the procedure, attending a service at St. Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham withQueen Camilla.

The King returned to London on Monday to begin treatment as an out-patient.

Also on Monday, it was announced that Prince William, 41, willreturn to public dutythis week. He had cleared his work schedule to help care for wifeKate Middletonfollowing her Jan. 16abdominal surgery. The Princess of Wales, 42, is continuing her recovery at home in Windsor after a 13-day hospital stay in London.
