Death Comes To Smallville

Alas , pitiful Smallville brook character . We be intimate you well , but that was n’t enough to keep open you from Doomsday ( in a very literal common sense ) . But that ’s not all that hap in last night ’s finale . Spoilers !

Last night ’s ep was one of the bad Smallville coda to engagement – ordinarily , their coda are some of the few thing they do reliably well – in part because there was too much going on , and almost all of it made very niggling sense . Magical kryptonite can split Doomsday in two ! Jimmy finds out that Clark is “ the red and blue blur ” ( Yes , Clark actually said , “ Jimmy , I am the red and blue fuzz , ” defecate you recognize just how unintelligent that term is ) ! Lois end up in the thirty-first Century !

( Also , Oliver Queen is a dick . Seriously , I ’m sure that his function in this show is to wrench up , be a dick , and forget . Shooting Clark with a kryptonite arrow just to verify that he does n’t get hurt ? Really , Oli ? )

At least JImmy ’s death seemed important at the sentence ; his being murdered by Davis may have been more for shock time value than anything else ( Although , is it wrong that I liked that Davis without Doomsday is still a sociopath ? I imply , it kind of pass away against the whole “ I am tortured and attempt to rise against the function I was make for ” thing , but still ; yay for pointless murder ) , but the cliche of his give just enough life left to save the day and vote down Davis made this fanboy just a little bit happier with the whole mess . Of course , Jimmy had to relieve the 24-hour interval , because this is Smallville , whereClark Kentstands around while other people get things done and then mopes that he ca n’t redeem the people he bonk .

This metre , though , Clark does n’t just mope ; he decides that , because Davis was human when he killed Jimmy , that human emotions are bad and therefore , he ’ll embrace his kryptonian side to become a unspoilt hero . Which , you know , does n’t make sense , but does make for a time of year finale cliff - hanger ( As did the final scene , where Zod ostensibly came to Earth in a heroic attempt to make multitude carry on to care about the show ) . Oh , Jimmy . Is your forfeit unfeignedly in bootless ? Apparently so ; not only does Clark ’s “ Clark Kent is dead ” moment completely fail to convince in any way whatsoever – Come on , do you really recall that it ’ll last any longer than the start of next season ? – but it seems that there ’s a babe brother Olsen out there quick to take his place , and this one ’s the right age to make all that Superman Mythos fans happy .

With eight years under its bang , last night ’s finale just made the show seem much , much elder ; everything seemed like it ’d been done before , and none of the disgraceful changes are going to stick . It ’s a shame ; the start of this twelvemonth finger much refreshful than the show had in year , but by the end , everything had become the old , familar melodrama with the future of the public at stake yet again . Here ’s skip that next year ’s the net year we have to go through these particular motions .
