Baltimore - based stripe Future Islands lastly got some much - deserve mainstream attention this past March afterappearing on Letterman . Suddenly , the band was everywhere with their new unmarried season ( Waiting on You ) . But after listening to their young record album on repetition for month , there ’s still just one song that haunts me every time it comes on : light From Grace .
The song is most definitely a type B - side variety of racetrack . It ’s not even close to my preferred song on the book . But it has these two screamy moments that I ca n’t help but making love . They remind me of that passion you ’d find out in the third chorus of a stain - pop Sung from bands like Nirvana or cheery Day Real Estate .
The present moment are vulnerable yet somehow restrained — both dial back and passionate in the way of life that it seems only Future Islands can do these days . It ’s kind of like the track singer , Samuel T. Herring , has stick something bubble just underneath the surface that only rears its head for a moment — hint at something more exhausting and furious and perhaps a minuscule dangerous .

It ’s a safe strain , and a great malformed tone , but it works even better within the context of the entire album . So be certain to check out thewhole matter , however you kids are doing that these days . Compact magnetic disk ? Wax cylinder?Brain wave injection ?
