Styles and his hair were considered one ever since he made his debut in One Direction in 2010. The hitmaker has worn it in a variety of ways over the years as well, going from the curly ‘do of his early days to shoulder-length tresses in 2015 to the clean-cut waves that saw Styles through his first three solo albums and his growing acting career.

And even hairstylist Ayae Yamamoto, the woman behind Styles’ on-stage looks, knows the power every ‘do has had on the star’s supporters.
“The fans are so passionate about his hair!” she told PEOPLE exclusively over the summer, noting that working with the celebrity-status head of hair made her “nervous” at first.
