2015 was a wacky year for food.
We, a population commonly known as humanity, invented burgers stuffed with Reese’s Cups. We made cocktails out of human tears. We baked poop-shaped cookies. We inserted the spices found in pumpkin pie intoeverything, including the bird-shaped Easter marshmallow, Peeps.
To review, here are ten of the nuttiest (pun always intended, though most of these items don’t contain nuts) food items of the year.
- The Deep-Fried Big Mac

Junk food wizard Jeremy Batista decided to deep-fry a McDonald’s Big Mac. We’re disgusted, yes, but also…slightly hot and bothered?
- Powdered Alcohol

While the idea of powdered alcohol has been tossed around for ages (I mean, how inconvenient is it to have to carry noisy bottles to and from the gym?), 2015 is the year the novelty item finally became legal.
- Pumpkin Spice Peeps
This is the year we officially took pumpkin spiceTOO FAR.
- The Peanut Butter Cup-Stuffed Burger
We love peanut butter cups, and we love burgers. But together? Nauseating and offensive.
- Disney Princess Hot Dogs

Anna Hezel and Gabriella Paiella crafted these masterpieces for food magazineLucky Peach. “Disney has never created a princess who was a hot dog (dumb, in our opinion). Imagine if all of their princesses were hot dogs. So inspiring. Wow.”
- Cocktails Made from Actual Human Tears

Bompas & Parr, the art studio/food alchemists, hosteda workshopon December 15th that taught participants how to make cocktail bitters out of their own tears. “Having difficulty thinking of a present for your friend or lover who has everything? What could be more meaningful than the gift of you…” the workshop’s description read. “Arguably the most poignant and personal Christmas gift imaginable, the bitter tears will be delicious as well as a decadent gift.”

Really big year for poop, guys. A South Korean poop-themed café opened, with poop-shaped baked goods and coffee served in mini toilet cups, plusan eatery in Disney World called Zuri’s Sweets Shop began offering animal-droppings-inspired sweet treats, as pictured below.

- Cereal Beer

Beer for breakfast? We’re about it. A new trend in craft brewing is breakfast foods, like with this Pop Tart-inspired beer from the San Francisco brewery 21st Amendment. (There is also a Wheaties beer now, for athletic types.)
- Halloween Whopper

Why dobuns have to have colorsnow? Burgers are already compelling enough as is.
10.Star Wars-Themed Everything

From jelly beans to chips to macaroni to toasters to jello to everything, 2015 marks the first year it is possible to survive on exclusivelyStar Wars-affiliated foods.
Our dream for 2015? More french fries. We’d like to see more stuff going on with french fries.
