A cat in the U.K. was named Nanny McPhee due to her “large nose,” but caregivers soon realized that wasn’t the case at all.
On Thursday, Cats Protection Warrington Adoption Centre shared to Facebook that the 4-year-old kitty — who it describes as “a gentle lady who loves fuss and a cuddle” — was brought into their care due to reasonsout of her control.
“Nanny McPhee sadly arrived into our care due to her previous owners' health and financial reasons. She is looking for her furrever home,” the charitywrote.
But while she appeared to have quite the nose on her, given her name, it turned out “she actually has two noses,” the charity revealed.

“This is a real rarity and, thankfully, it isn’t causing her any problems at all,” Brockbank said.
While “congenital malformations” are “not uncommon” in cats, as Brockbank told the BBC, Nanny McPhee’s double nose can “either be inherited” or caused in utero. “We have all fallen in love with our one-of-a-kind [cat],” added manager Lindsay Kerr, who said the feline was named after the fictional character who had a “famously deformed nose.”
“She has proven to be a gentle lady who adores a fuss and a cuddle and we are hopeful her new-found fame will mean she will have no shortage of potential adopters. She really does deserve a home where she can settle down and become the centre of a loving family.”
As of Friday afternoon, Nanny McPhee is listed on Warrington Adoption Centre’s website as “reserved,” meaning she might not be too far away from joining her new owners.
The female spaniel puppy with six legs — who was named Ariel afterThe Little Mermaidprotagonist — was “handed in to a local veterinary practice” on Sept. 27, according to the rescue, after being found in the parking lot of a home improvement store.

The rescue eventually began a “treatment plan” with vets and revealed in a laterFacebookpost that the pup was “normal” internally.
Ariel was eventually brought to her foster home, where she has settled in “wonderfully,” per the shelter.
