During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE about her newThumbtackpartnership, theScream 2actress, 46, opened up about spending the night at a haunted hotel — and the unlikely thing that happened to her there.

“When I was younger, I stayed in a haunted room at theHotel del Coronado," Gellar says, referring to the historic Coronado, Calif. beach resort that opened in 1888. “Years ago, you used to be able to ask for that room and stay in there.”

When asked if she experienced any paranormal encounters herself, Gellar says with a laugh: “Yeah. My weird experience was that I slept through the night. I slept great.”

While she didn’t get the paranormal encounter she may have hoped for, she still enjoyed a lovely stay.

TheWolf Packproducer is bringing her love of sinister things to Thumbtack’s new “Haunted Homes Hotline” campaign, for which she will help two lucky callers determine whether their home is actually haunted or just needs a little love from the home service’s expert team.

While she does believe some houses can have their own mysterious “energies,” she’s also pretty certain that it’s usually just the home settling when things go bump in the night.
