Kim Kardashian Westhas been taking her law studies seriously — and CNN’s Van Jones can attest to the reality star’s determination.
The host ofThe Redemption Project with Van Jones, 50, recently toldExtrathat theKeeping Up with the Kardashiansstar, 38, has impressed him with her passion to become a lawyer since they firstmet at the White Housein late 2018, when they were working together on criminal-justice reform.
“[Kim] is so prepared, she is so passionate, she reads the letters that she gets, and is always trying to figure out how to be helpful,” Jones shared. “People forget she is the daughter of a very accomplished lawyer. She is also the mother of three African-American kids, so that puts that criminal justice conversation in a different place.”
The CNN star added, “She is just extraordinary, and people are just going to have to reassess — she is not that kid that used to party with Paris Hilton.”
Meanwhile, she and Hiltondidparty together atKourtney Kardashian‘s40th birthday bashon Thursday evening.
Kardashian West, who previously revealed her career aspirations in an interview withVogue, recently announced that she decided last summer to begin a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco, with the goal of taking the bar in 2022.
“She is like a sponge. We are having to work to keep ahead of her.Kim Kardashianis outgrowing everybody right now,” Jones said.

The KKW Beauty mogul previouslythanked Jonesfor his involvement in her path to becoming a lawyer. “I want to thank Van Jones for believing in me and introducing me to Jessica Jackson. Jessica along with Erin Haney have taken on the role of my mentors and I am forever grateful to them both putting in so much time with me, believing in me and supporting me through this journey,” she said.
Thesoon-to-be mother of fouralso clapped back at trolls who claimed “privilege” and “money” as reasons for her access to a law degree.
“That’s not the case. One person actually said I should ‘stay in my lane.’ I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals. You can create your own lanes, just as I am,” Kardashian West said, noting: “The state bar doesn’t care who you are. Everyone can take this route if you live in a state where this is allowed.”
